Emma Raducanu has great Monday morning after latest big rankings jump

Raducanu has improved around 150 spots on the WTA rankings list over the last two months.

Emma Raducanu has made another notable rankings improvement as the 21-year-old Briton is ranked at No. 69 in the world after gaining 20 positions on the updated WTA rankings list.

Raducanu – who started last week as the 89th-ranked player in the world – reached the quarterfinal at a WTA 500 tournament in Washington. And since the former world No. 10 wasn’t defending points, that solid run resulted in her getting closer to being back into the top-50 in the world.

After returning from multiple surgeries at the start of 2024, Raducanu was even once ranked outside the top-300. Also, she wasn’t a top-200 player when the grass season started but she has improved around 150 spots over the last two months.

Raducanu is making strides and feeling great about her progress

Around this time a year ago, Raducanu was recovering from three surgeries and there were a lot of question marks regarding how her comeback would go.

But so far, so good as Raducanu has been healthy throughout 2024 and she has also had some notable wins and results.

“I think I made some pretty good strides in my game over the last few months. I started the grass season ranked outside of 200 and finished it in the top 100. For me that was relatively successful. It guaranteed me a spot hopefully in the main draw of the U.S. That was a big thing for me. I wanted to make sure I got into the slams,” Raducanu said last week.

I think, compared to a year ago, this time a year ago I hadn’t been touching tennis balls. I was in China actually, which was great. I got to see my family for a good month. Yeah, I didn’t touch a tennis ball until late November really…
